Afternoon Private Los Angeles Tours from Burbank, Universal City & Studio City
Arriving in Los Angeles later in the day does not mean you have to settle for a rushed sightseeing experience—or wait until tomorrow to begin exploring.
Arriving Late Morning or Early Afternoon? Start Exploring the Same Day
Does your flight arrive in Los Angeles late morning or early afternoon? You do not have to lose the rest of the day waiting until tomorrow to begin sightseeing.
Guideline Tours understands that many guests arrive through Burbank Airport, check into a hotel or vacation rental, and still have a free afternoon to enjoy Los Angeles. That is why we offer mid-afternoon and late-afternoon private tour departures throughout the year for guests who want to get started right away after arrival.
With direct pickup available from Burbank, Universal City, Studio City, and North Hollywood hotels, Airbnb stays, Vrbo rentals, and other nearby accommodations, your private Los Angeles experience can begin where you are staying.
Depending on timing, daylight, traffic, and your group’s interests, an afternoon private tour may include Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, the Sunset Strip, Hollywood Boulevard, Warner Bros. area photo opportunities, scenic Hollywood Sign viewpoints, and more.
The best private Los Angeles tours are not built around rushing from one famous location to the next. They are built around the people in the vehicle: what they are interested in seeing, where they are staying, how much time they want at each stop, and the unexpected local moments that make a day in Los Angeles feel personal.
On one recent private Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills tour, guests added an approximately 45-minute Hollywood Sign hike to the Tyrolean Tank—and encountered a working goat herd moving through the Hollywood Hills.
During a private Los Angeles tour and Hollywood Sign hike to the Tyrolean Tank, our guests encountered a working goat herd moving through the Hollywood Hills.
A Hollywood Sign Hike With a Real Los Angeles Story
The views were spectacular. Then something happened that none of us expected.
Along the trail, we encountered a goat tender guiding a working herd through the Hollywood Hills.
For our guests, it became one of those unforgettable Los Angeles moments: standing near one of the world’s most famous landmarks, surrounded by hillside scenery, while watching goats help manage vegetation in a fire-conscious community.
The Hollywood Sign is known around the world. But the hills behind it are much more than a backdrop for photos. They are home to hiking trails, wildlife, canyon neighborhoods, steep terrain, and communities that remain conscious of fire risk throughout the year.
According to the goat tender, property owners hire grazing goats to move through selected hillside areas and eat grasses, weeds, brush, and other vegetation.
The goats were not there as a tourist attraction.
They were working.
That is what made the experience special. Our guests did not simply take a photo of the Hollywood Sign and continue on a rushed sightseeing route. They experienced a real moment in the Hollywood Hills and learned something meaningful about the landscape around one of Los Angeles’ most iconic landmarks.
Why Goats Are Used in Fire-Conscious Hillside Areas
Managed goat grazing can be one useful part of vegetation management in Southern California.
Goats can move through steep, rocky, and uneven terrain where large equipment may be difficult to use. As they graze, they help reduce grasses, weeds, and brush that can dry out during hot, dry, or windy conditions.
This approach can also be quieter and less disruptive than some mechanical clearing methods, especially in locations with limited access.
Of course, goats are not a complete wildfire-prevention solution. Responsible fire safety also includes defensible space, landscaping, emergency access, building standards, and ongoing property maintenance.
But seeing a working goat herd in the Hollywood Hills gave our guests a firsthand look at one thoughtful way local property owners help care for these remarkable hillsides.
More Than a Quick Hollywood Drive-By
Hollywood Boulevard, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and the Hollywood Sign are famous for a reason.
But many visitors are looking for more than a quick one-and-a-half- or two-hour drive-through experience. They want time to ask questions, take photos without being rushed, hear real stories, enjoy the scenery, and feel a connection with Los Angeles beyond the usual checklist.
That is where a personalized private Los Angeles tour becomes different.
With your own dedicated guide and vehicle, the day can be shaped around your group’s interests, energy level, preferred pace, pickup location, and available time. Some guests want deeper Hollywood history. Others prefer architecture, Beverly Hills estates, cultural landmarks, local food, scenic viewpoints, movie locations, or a little outdoor activity.
For guests who enjoy a memorable walk, the Tyrolean Tank Hollywood Sign hike can add a completely different dimension to a private Hollywood tour.
It is not simply a photo stop.
It is an experience.

Add a Warner Bros. Area Photo Opportunity to Your Private Los Angeles Tour
For guests staying in Burbank, Universal City, Studio City, or North Hollywood, a private Los Angeles tour can also include a fun photo opportunity in the Warner Bros. Studio area.
This family chose to stop for a memorable photo with Wonder Woman during their personalized day of Los Angeles sightseeing. It is the kind of flexible addition that is much easier to accommodate on a private tour than on a fixed large-group route.
Whether your group is especially interested in classic Hollywood, film studios, superhero favorites, television history, or simply creating a fun family photo, we can shape the day around what matters most to you.
Warner Bros. area photo opportunities are always subject to timing, access, traffic, and studio-area conditions, but we are happy to include them whenever practical as part of a customized Burbank, Hollywood and Beverly Hills private tour

- Griffith Observatory and panoramic city views
- The Original Farmers Market

One of Many Unforgettable Encounters Over 38 Years
After nearly four decades of Los Angeles sightseeing, we have learned that some of the best tour moments are the ones nobody planned.
A guest may discover a favorite historic building downtown. A family may find the perfect Hollywood Sign photo angle. A visitor may hear a story about Los Angeles that changes how they see the city. Or, as happened on this day, a group may come face-to-face with a working herd of goats in the Hollywood Hills.
Those are the moments that stay with people.
This private tour began as a day of Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and a beautiful hike to the Tyrolean Tank.
It became a reminder that Los Angeles is more than famous streets and celebrity stories. It is a living city of neighborhoods, hills, history, culture, people, wildlife, and unexpected surprises.
